OBJECTIVES

The aim of this Exchange-bite is to share with European law enforcement officials the major outcomes and best practices learnt by participants during the CEPOL Exchange Programme 2023 regarding risk analysis to detect MTIC and cross border VAT fraud in respective countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, Poland and Portugal) and the importance of inter-agency and international cooperation.

With this Exchange-bite, the audience will be able to:

  • Describe the basic principle of (MTIC) VAT fraud and how this fraud affects the interest of the EU;
  • Understand what tools to detect VAT fraud are being used in the visited countries;
  • Strengthen the understanding of how important the early detection of VAT fraud is;
  • Understand the necessity of close and timely interagency and international cooperation.
