About this course

Aim and learning outcomes

The aim of this webinar is to introduce law enforcement and judicial officers into the phenomenon of illicit ketamine markets in Europe, with a particular focus on the import and diversion of ketamine as well as the wholesale market. By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:

  • Describe the common modi operandi of legal import of ketamine into Europe and its diversion to the illicit market, including the origins of the ketamine;
  • Describe in general terms the situation of ketamine trafficking and diversion (wholesale) in Europe, particularly in Austria, Belgium and  Germany;
  • List the ways ketamine is offered on Darknet markets and how vendors market their products and services;
  • List the way SkyECC/ANOM geodata analysis adds value to drugs and ketamine investigations;
  • Describe in brief the situation of ketamine in Germany from a forensic chemist's point of view;
  • Describe the prevalence of ketamine by criminals for the wholesale market, as well as ketamine's origin, forms of appearance, synthesis and which conclusions can be drawn based on the chemical analysis of samples taken from ketamine seizures.
