OBJECTIVES
The aim of this webinar is to provide law enforcement participants with an overview of the cosmetics industry, its significance to the European Union’s economy and innovation ecosystem, and the investment, expertise and regulatory effort required to develop and place authentic cosmetic products on the market, thereby strengthening participants’ understanding of the broader harm caused by counterfeit cosmetics. The webinar will also examine detergent products following the same approach.
By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:
- Describe the economic and strategic importance of the cosmetics and detergents industries within the European Union, including its contribution to innovation and market activity;
- Summarise the key stages, resources and investment involved in the development and commercialisation of authentic cosmetic products, including the role of industry stakeholders;
- Explain why counterfeit cosmetics and detergents should be understood not only as an intellectual property infringement, but also as a matter with wider implications for innovation, legitimate business activity, consumer confidence and market integrity.
