3018/2026/WEB 'Wildlife crime – An overview of EU-TWIX, SIENA/SOCTA/EMPACT and Operational Action 3.2'
Thursday 8 October at 10:00 CEST
OBJECTIVES
The aim of this webinar is to promote the use of the Europe Trade in Wildlife Information eXchange (EU-TWIX) and the Secure Information Exchange Network Application (SIENA), and increase the transfer of wildlife trafficking-related intelligence to SIENA thanks to EU-TWIX. An overview of the Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assessment (SOCTA), the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT) and Operational Action 3.2 on EU-TWIX and SIENA coordination, will also be provided. It will demonstrate how EU-TWIX data can help identify information that should be reported to SIENA, highlight reporting gaps and challenges faced by law enforcement agencies, and explore ways to optimise data sharing.
By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:
- Understand the structure and functioning of EU-TWIX, SIENA, SOCTA and EMPACT, and their roles in combating wildlife trafficking;
- Comprehend the purpose of Operational Action 3.2 on EU-TWIX and SIENA coordination;
- Recognise common obstacles in reporting to SIENA and propose solutions to optimise data transfer;
- Enhance coordination and collaboration among European law enforcement and management agencies to improve intelligence sharing and enforcement actions against wildlife trafficking.
