The aim of this webinar is to enhance the capacity of law enforcement and prosecutors to recognise and investigate designer fuel fraud; identify and combat the circumvention of EU sanctions, with a focus on Europol’s operational and analytical support in this area.
By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:

• Identify the latest trends in designer fuel fraud, including the current development in this area, and illicit distribution networks;
• Analyse common modi operandi and assess how these frauds manifest in national contexts;
• Explain the legal frameworks governing EU sanctions and related export/import controls;
• Detect fraudulent mechanisms used to circumvent EU sanctions, including misuse of customs procedures, misdeclared goods, and trade-based money laundering;
• Describe Europol’s role in investigating circumvention of sanctions, including cross-border coordination; analytical support (e.g., financial intelligence, forensic analysis), operational tools.
